LAST week
Okay, so I couldn't decide what to write about last week. I had read a really good book called "The Woman at the Well" which asks the question of us "how thirsty are we." It is a really good book if you are ever feeling unimportant. My RS president gave it to me as a thank you for serving with her. I was impressed with the questions it asked. I also was going to write about how wonderful it is having my Mom and Dad back from their mission! I really missed them. There is nothing like a mother's hug. I ALSO thought about writing about my Christmas dilemma and seeing if anyone had any ideas! Corban is bound and determined to put a camera in the Christmas tree to video tape Santa Claus. He had a kid in his class who did it and saw Santa. Corban still believes and I don't know if I should fill him with reality (I hated the year I found out when I was a kid), or if I should rent a Santa suit and continue the myth. He has already written and mailed a letter to Santa asking for pictures of him, elves and reindeer. I am at a loss as parent once again and am asking for advice. Last week I couldn't decide what to write about and never did so you get the smorgasboard this week. Sorry!
Cute Halloween Cupcakes
Our hometeacher came over today. His words, "My wife loves the holidays." He brought us these cute cupcakes that I thought wouldn't be too hard to make and would make you look extremely talented or creative. There is a mummy, a frankenstein, a candycorn, a pumpkin, and a caution cupcake. There WAS a skeleton and some other pumpkins, a spider, and a vampire that got eaten by my children before I got a picture. I just wanted to pass the idea along! Maybe I will make some for the Halloween party for my preschool class on Wednesday!

A Stick in the Mud
I was released from the RS presidency today. I kind of knew it was coming. My president has been in 3 1/2 years and the bishop called saying he needed to talk to just me JUST a minute or two before sacrament meeting started. I put 2 and 2 together. I wasn't sad. I was in the presidency before my president was put in--so I have been in for awhile. To my surprise when they announced it in sacrament meeting today, I started to tear up. I don't know if it is the pregnancy hormones flowing or what. I don't have a presidency meeting or RS visits or a luncheon to host in a week or a lesson to prepare in 3 weeks. I have some free time on my hands so why am I sad? I think it is the blessings of serving that you receive that you don't realize you have until you are released and no longer have those blessings. My parents came home from their mission this week. I asked my Dad if they were glad they were home and he said, "It's good to be back, I think." I think it is change. We are sticks in the mud and don't like change when it actually has to occur. I guess being a stick in the mud is okay as long as we are firm and steadfast in the faith. I was sad when I was released from Primary after being in there an eon. I am sad now that I am released from Relief Society. I think it is just time for another good change that the Lord sees for me. I am ready. He always sees better in the future than I do!

My husband
Yesterday I felt like I cooked and watched conference and cooked and watched conference and cooked and cooked some more. I got up this morning and made coffee cake. My kids have been talking about it for weeks anxious for me to make it. I am glad they enjoy it. It is a physical reason for them to look forward to the weekend. Maybe it will eventually translate into a spiritual reason as well. Bridger did the cooking for lunch today and made “lunch a la our garden.” Tuesday this last week was 80 degrees. Wednesday was 42 (for a high). Talk about a drastic change! Bridger came home Tuesday night at 10pm and went out to harvest everything he could from our garden. He came home Wednesday during the day and harvested the rest and worked longer that night to make up for it. So today he gave me a break from cooking, used his love of cooking new recipes, and used up produce from our garden. Today for lunch Bridger made Homemade Herbed Tomato Soup, Kohlrabi with Honey Butter, Zucchini Cheddar Cheese Puff, and grilled cheese sandwiches (for the kids). It was very good and more exotic than I usually cook. Plus it was just nice not to have to cook. Food always tastes better when you haven’t had to cook it! I am blessed to have a husband who likes to cook! Too bad he is not around more to do it more often.
